Ladera Ranch’s reimagined Heritage Farm is moving from concept into its first resident season. The official community program runs from August 2026 through February 2027 and is designed for residents who want a hands-on role in growing food, learning garden skills, and building a shared neighborhood tradition.
WHAT THE PROGRAM IS
The Resident Farmer Program turns the Heritage Farm into a collaborative working and learning space. Participants can join farm shifts offered throughout the week, including most Saturdays, and receive instruction from professional farmers.
The official program description says residents can learn skills such as planting, pruning, composting, propagation, irrigation, and seasonal garden care. Fresh harvests are shared at the end of farming shifts, and the schedule is intended to accommodate residents with different experience levels.
THE TIME COMMITMENT
Participation requires a minimum of two volunteer hours per month. Residents may join more often when their schedules allow. After registering, participants receive access to VolunteerMark, the platform used to view shifts, register for opportunities, track hours, and receive farm updates.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
No gardening experience is required. LaderaLife describes the program as family-friendly and open to residents of different ages, abilities, interests, and skill levels. Professional guidance is intended to help match people with comfortable tasks.
MORE THAN FARM SHIFTS
The broader Heritage Farm plan includes seasonal U-Pick experiences, workshops, potlucks, gatherings, and other community activities. The inaugural group will also have an opportunity to help shape future traditions at the farm.
WHY THIS IS WORTH WATCHING
The program adds a different kind of Ladera amenity: one built around participation rather than passive use. It creates a place where residents can learn practical skills, meet neighbors, spend time outdoors, and share in what the farm produces.
LaderaLife currently lists the farm amenity as closed for renovation, so residents should check the official Heritage Farm page for the latest access, registration, and opening details before visiting.
HOW TO LEARN MORE
Residents can review the complete program description and registration information on the official LaderaLife Heritage Farm page. Because schedules and amenity status can change, that page should remain the source of truth for current shifts and access.
