Ladera Ranch's Halloween Home Decorating Contest is officially underway, and the community's interactive map now gives residents an easy way to plan an evening tour of this year's displays.
The map features 17 stops across the community, including 15 contest entries and two Legacy Award homes. Resident judging is open now and concludes at noon on Wednesday, October 28. Each Ladera Ranch resident may cast one vote through the official contest page.
Several homeowners have added helpful viewing notes. The display at 9 Sutherland Drive, known as Ladera's own Area 51, runs nightly from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., with surprise alien visitors and intergalactic fog on Saturdays and Sundays. At 73 Flintridge Avenue, shows run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m., with spookier presentations after 8 p.m., weather permitting.
Other themes include dancing skeletons at 15 Sutherland Drive, Shipwrecked Island at 40 Lewiston Court, the Pumpkin House at 10 Roycroft Court and talking pumpkins on weekends at 36 Bramford Street.
The map also includes practical location notes. The 8 Ivy Gate Lane display faces the pocket park, the 24 Sandy Pond Road display faces Caltrop Way, and the 64 Trumpet Vine Street display faces the alley behind the neighboring homes. Visitors to 10 Basilica Place will need a LARMAC access card to enter the gate.
Two former repeat winners—15 Bainbridge Avenue and 175 Sklar Street—are included as Legacy Award recipients. They are not part of this year's judging, but remain on the map so residents can enjoy their displays.
For the best experience, plan a route before leaving home, walk when practical, keep driveways and streets clear, supervise children and be considerate of the families living near each display. Show times and special effects may change, especially if weather becomes a factor.
